  3. Follow the instructions that appear on your PC and on your Windows Mobile® device. For devices with a touch screen, we recommend that you install Pocket Tunes to the device and not to a storage card. Installing to a storage card on devices with a touch screen may result in program instabilities when using Pocket Tunes.

  5. You are done!  See the section below for information about copying music to your device.

On Macintosh:

  1. Download the CAB file (pTunesx.x.x.x.CAB) from http://www.pocket-tunes.com/ as there is no native Macintosh installer.
  2. Using a card reader copy the CAB file (pTunesx.x.x.x.CAB) to a memory card that can be inserted into your device.
  3. Insert the memory card into your device.
  4. Run "File Explorer" on your device.
  5. Browse to and select the CAB file you copied to the memory card to install it.
  6. Follow the instructions that appear on your Windows Mobile® device. For devices with a touch screen, we recommend that you install Pocket Tunes to the device and not to a storage card. Installing to a storage card on devices with a touch screen may result in program instabilities when using Pocket Tunes.
5 Copying Audio Files

Before you can play any songs on your Windows Mobile® device, you must copy audio files on to it.  Audio files can be copied to an expansion card or to main memory.  There are several methods to copy audio files to your device.  Please read below and follow the instructions that are appropriate for you.

Before copying audio files to your device you must first setup Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile® Device Center (WMDC).  If you are using Windows XP you must have Microsoft ActiveSync installed and setup to synchronize with your device.  If you are using Windows Vista you must have WMDC installed and setup to synchronize with your device.   You can also visit http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile for more information or to download Microsoft ActiveSync or WMDC.

5-1 Copying Audio Files with Windows Media Player 11 or online music store software

If you have Windows Media Player 11, then you can copy music using a number of applications designed to work with portable media devices.  This includes Windows Media Player 11, Napster, Rhapsody, and Yahoo! Music Engine, among many others.  For these applications, please follow their instructions for copying music to a portable device.

For Windows Media Player 11, follow these instructions:

  1. Run Windows Media Player 11 on your PC.
  2. Connect your Windows Mobile® device using its USB cable to your PC.
  3. If it is your first time connecting your device with Windows Media Player 11, the "Synchronization Setup Wizard" might appear.  Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the setup process if this occurs.
  4. You will now be able to "sync" music to your device using Windows Media Player 11.  Please consult the Windows Media Player documentation for instructions on how to copy music to portable devices and how to set up sync relationships.
5-2 Copying Audio Files With Pocket Tunes Sync for iTunes

In order to copy audio files with Pocket Tunes Sync for iTunes, you must have installed it to your Windows PC when you installed Pocket Tunes.  If you installed Pocket Tunes directly to your handset by downloading a CAB file over a wireless network connection, you will need to download the Windows installer for Pocket Tunes and install it on your PC, ensuring you leave the "Install iTunes Sync" item selected when prompted during the installation.  You can download the Windows installer for Pocket Tunes at http://www.pocket-tunes.com .

Note that only unprotected files within your iTunes library can be played within Pocket Tunes.  The "Pocket Tunes Sync for iTunes" PC client will skip any protected files that you attempt to synchronize to your device.

  1. Connect your Windows Mobile® device using its USB cable to your PC.
  2. Run "Pocket Tunes Sync for iTunes" by choosing "All Programs > Pocket Tunes for Windows Mobile > iTunesSync" from the Windows Start Menu

Pocket Tunes Sync for iTunes

  1. Once the "Pocket Tunes Sync for iTunes" window appears, select the playlists you wish to copy to your device from the list of iTunes Playlists shown.

  3. The progress of the synchronization will appear in the status bar at the bottom of the window.
5-3 Copying Audio Files With A Card Reader

To transfer an audio file to your memory card using a card reader, follow these steps:

  1. Insert your flash memory card into your card reader.
  2. Use Windows Explorer to copy MP3, WMA, AAC, or aacPlus files to the memory card.  The recommended location for audio files is in the Music directory on the root of the card.  If that directory doesn't exist, you can safely create it.
5-4 Copying Audio Files With ActiveSync on Windows XP

Use the following basic instructions for copying files using Microsoft’s ActiveSync.  These instructions require that you have ActiveSync installed on Windows XP:

  1. Connect your device to your PC
  2. Open ActiveSync on your PC

  4. Double click “My Windows Mobile-Based Device”
  5. Double click “Storage Card”
  6. Double click “Music”
  7. Drag and drop unprotected music files and / or folders here.
  8. Once the “Copy & Convert” dialog has finished you can close the explore window for My Music on the storage card of your device. You’re DONE!
6 The Player

When you start Pocket Tunes, you will see the player screen.  This screen will look different depending on the skin that you have installed.  All of the screen shots in the user guide are from the default skin ("Sleek Blue").  Note that if you have a device that supports square and portrait screen views, the skin will resize to fit the screen, and the layout will be slightly different from what is shown here.

You can access many of the preferences and options of Pocket Tunes by displaying the menu.  You can display the menu by pressing the right soft key on your device or by tapping the Pocket Tunes title bar on devices with a touch screen.  Many of the menu items have hot keys, which are listed on the "Keyboard Shortcuts" screen accessible by selecting the "Help > Keyboard Shortcuts..." menu item.  You can access functions quickly by pressing the corresponding key on devices with a keyboard (you do not need to display the menu first).

The "Sleek Blue" skin was created by Tunji Afonja (www.gx-5.com) and NormSoft, Inc.

Below is a description of the various parts of this skin.

Title Bar: Tap on this to display the menu, on devices with a touch screen.  The title bar also includes a clock and battery meter for your convenience.
Song Title, Artist, and Album: This area displays the current song's title, artist, and album name.  Tap in this area on devices with a touch screen to open the Song Details screen.
Album Art: If the currently playing song includes album art (see section 18), it is displayed here.  Tap this area on devices with a touch screen to display the album art in full-screen mode.
Position Slider: On devices with a touch screen, tap or drag to seek within the current song.  The current play position is displayed to the left of the slider, and the total track time is displayed to the right.
Playlist Panel: Shows the current playlist or information about the current song.  You can choose which of these is displayed by changing the "Show song list in comment area" setting, on the "General Preferences" screen.
Repeat: When turned on, the playlist will continue to play over and over again.
Shuffle: When turned on, songs will be played in a random order.
Volume Slider: On devices with a touch screen, tap or drag to change the volume.  Current volume level is displayed to the right of the slider.
Play: On devices with a touch screen, tap this button to play music.
Pause: On devices with a touch screen, tap this button to pause the music.
Previous Track: On devices with a touch screen, tap this button to go back to the beginning of the current song.  Tap again to go to the previous song in the playlist.  Hold this button down to rewind.
Next Track: On devices with a touch screen, tap this button to go to the next song in the playlist.  Hold this button down to fast forward.
Choose Songs: On devices with a touch screen, tap this button to open the Choose Songs screen and select new music to play.
Internet Radio: On devices with a touch screen, tap this button to open the Internet radio catalog and choose a radio station to play.

When playback is paused, most of the above visual controls can be accessed by selecting them with the 5-way navigator and pressing the center button to change their state.  For position and volume sliders you must select the control using the center button, then use the left and right navigator keys to change the slider setting.  A second press of the center button deactivates the slider and returns normal navigation to left and right keys on the 5-way navigator.

Pocket Tunes will continue to play music even when you switch to another application.  This is called background playback.

To run another program while continuing to listen to music with Pocket Tunes, select the "Show Windows Start Menu" by pressing the right soft key and using the 5-way navigator or by tapping the title bar on the main player screen followed by tapping the "Show Windows Start Menu" item.

To return to Pocket Tunes select or tap its program icon.

If you do not wish Pocket Tunes to continue playback while running other applications, either pause playback before running another application as described above, or select the "Exit" menu item from the menu on the main player screen.

7 Choosing Songs

When you are choosing songs to add to a playlist or to select songs to be played immediately, you will see the Choose Songs screen.  The Choose Songs screen can be opened from the main screen (using the "Sleek Blue" skin) by tapping the musical note icon at the bottom left or by pressing the left soft key.

To select or unselect a song, press the center button on the 5-way navigator or tap on the song.  Once you have selected all of the songs you wish to play or add, press the left soft key or tap "Play Sel." or "Add Sel.".  To select all of the songs in the current view for playback or addition, ensure no songs are selected and press the left soft key or tap "Play All" or "Add All".

To view the contents of a category (e.g. Artist), tap on it or press the right navigator key when it is selected.  A "<-" will appear in all views.  Tap on it or press the left navigator key to view the contents of the parent view.

8 Playlists

Pocket Tunes allows you to create and manage playlists (groups of songs that you would like to play together).

Select "Manage Playlists" from the "Tools" menu to bring up the "Playlists" screen.  The "Tools" menu can be accessed from the main screen by pressing the right soft key or by tapping on the title bar.

Press the left soft key or tap "Select" to play the selected playlist.  Select "New" from the menu on the Playlists screen to create a new playlist, "Edit" to edit the selected playlist,  "Delete" to delete the selected playlist, "Move" to move the selected playlist between main memory and an expansion card, or "Cancel" to exit the Playlists screen without performing any further action.

By default, new playlists are saved on an expansion card, if possible.  If you select music from more than one expansion card, or if you select music stored in internal memory, then the playlist will be stored in internal memory on your device.  When playlists are stored on an expansion card, they are stored in the standard M3U format in the \Storage Card\Playlists folder.  You can copy M3U playlists anywhere on an expansion card, but it is recommended that you store them in \Storage Card\Playlists or in the same folder as the music that it refers to.  (If the pathnames in the M3U file are incorrect, Pocket Tunes makes an effort to search for the music that the playlist refers to, but it may not be able to find the music unless the M3U file is in the same directory as the song files.)

When you edit a playlist, you will see the "Edit Playlist" screen.

Press the left soft key or tap "Add Song(s)" to add a new song to the list.  Select the "Remove Song" menu item to remove the selected song from the list.  To reorder a playlist, select "Move Song Up/Down" from the menu followed by either the up or down navigation buttons to move the currently selected song up or down within the playlist.

When you have finished making changes to the list, select the "Save" menu item to save it and return to the "Playlists" screen.

If you wish to delete an entire list, select the "Delete" menu item on the "Playlist" screen to delete the currently selected playlist.

9 Preferences

Press the right soft key or tap on the title bar of the skin to bring up the Pocket Tunes menu.  Select "Prefs > General..." to display the preferences screen.

To enable the Volume Boost, select the amount of boost you wish to use from the drop down box.  Note that any amount of volume boost is likely to degrade the audio quality, especially anything over +6dB.  When using volume boost, you should have your volume set to the maximum (or near the maximum).  If you don't, then lower the volume boost and increase the volume slider to increase audio quality and maintain the same volume.

You can choose to display your current song list in the comments area on the main screen.  If you select the Show song list in comment area option, you will be able to scroll through all of the songs in the current playlist and start playing them by tapping on them or selecting them with the 5-way navigator when playback is paused.  Note that if your skin does not have a comments area, then this option will not have an effect.

When Swap 5-way navigation axes is unchecked (default), up/down will change the volume, and left/right will change tracks.  When checked, up/down will change tracks, and left/right will change the volume.  This preference only applies to devices with a 5-way navigator.

Select Check for updates every 30 days to have Pocket Tunes remind you to check for program updates every 30 days.  You can only check for updates if you have a network connection available from your device (e.g. WiFi, Bluetooth, or cellular data network).

Select Look for songs in internal memory to have Pocket Tunes display songs in your device's internal memory, that exist in the "/Music" or "/My Documents" directories, in addition to songs on any memory card inserted into the device.  If this preference is not selected, Pocket Tunes will only show songs that exist on memory cards inserted into your device.

9-1 Advanced Preferences

Pocket Tunes has several advanced settings that you may wish to modify.  To access the advanced preferences, select "Prefs > Advanced..." from the menu on the main player screen.

Select the Start playing on startup option to have Pocket Tunes automatically start playing the last song you were listening to when it's started.

By default, Pocket Tunes will pause playback when you get a low battery warning, which will allow your device to go to sleep and prevent it from running out of battery life.  You can turn this option off by unchecking the Stop playing on low battery option.

Select Stop playing after X minutes in order to limit the amount of time that Pocket Tunes will play music for.  After this time limit is reached, Pocket Tunes will pause the current song, and then the device will go to sleep as normal.

Select Warn me about audio quality to enable a warning message to appear whenever you select an option that could adversely affect the audio quality.

Select System volume limits pTunes volume if you want the Windows Mobile® system volume setting to limit the maximum volume within Pocket Tunes.  When this is not selected, the Pocket Tunes volume is independent of the system volume.

Select Use low-quality aacPlus decoding if you are having difficulty playing aacPlus files or Internet radio stations on your device.  It is expected that this should only be necessary on devices with slow CPUs or with other CPU intensive programs running simultaneously with Pocket Tunes.

10 Skins

Pocket Tunes comes with support for "skins."  A skin is an alternate graphical interface for Pocket Tunes.  Visit http://www.pocket-tunes.com/skins/ to view a list of available skins.  If you're interested in making your own skins, there is information at that web site to help you.

To install a skin you need to copy its provided SKN file either to your devices internal memory or to a memory card inserted into your device.  If you are copying an SKN file to internal memory it must be copied to a location under the "\Application Data\Pocket Tunes" or "My Documents" directories.  If you are copying it to a memory card, it can reside anywhere on the card.  There are two easy ways to copy the SKN file to internal memory or a card:

  1. Use Microsoft ActiveSync to browse the device or card and copy and paste the file to the desired location.  Use the following basic instructions for copying files using Microsoft’s ActiveSync.  These instructions require that you have ActiveSync installed on Windows XP:
  1. Connect your device to your PC
  2. Open ActiveSync on your PC
  3. Click Explore
  4. Double click “My Windows Mobile-Based Device”
  5. Double click "Application Data" then "Pocket Tunes", or “Storage Card”
  6. Drag and drop SKN files here.
  7. Once the “Copy & Convert” dialog has finished you can close the explore window. You’re DONE!
  1. Use a card reader to copy the file onto a memory card that will be inserted into your device.  To transfer an audio file to your memory card using a card reader, follow these steps:
  1. Insert your flash memory card into your card reader.
  2. Use Windows Explorer to copy SKN files to the memory card.
  3. Insert your flash memory card into your device.

Next, run Pocket Tunes.  Open the menu by pressing the right soft key or by tapping the title bar on the main player screen.  Select "Choose Skin..." from the Tools menu.

A list of available skins will be displayed.

Select the skin that you would like to use with the 5-way navigator or by tapping on it then press the left soft key or tap "Select".  To delete a skin, select the skin and then select the "Delete" menu item using the right soft key and 5-way navigator or by tapping "Menu" then "Delete".

To copy a skin between main memory and your expansion card, select the skin as described above and press the right soft key and select the "Copy" menu item with the 5-way navigator or tap "Menu" followed by the "Copy" menu item.  (You cannot copy the Built-In Skin.)

10-1 Skin Preferences

The "Skin Preferences" screen allows you to pick two "Custom Fonts."  These fonts will be displayed in different places depending on the current skin chosen.  By default, "Custom Font 1" is used for the title, and "Custom Font 2" is used for the song information.

On the "Skin Preferences" screen, you can also select Show song duration in playlist.  This option is on by default and allows you to see the duration of each song when the playlist is displayed using your active skin.

The Show song errors in playlist option is also on by default and allows you to see a red exclamation mark to the left of any songs that couldn't be played because of an error. (e.g. file not found)

11 Bluetooth Headset Setup

The "Bluetooth Headset Setup" screen is for advanced users.  If you have a device that is currently not officially supported by Pocket Tunes with a plug-in for enabling bluetooth headsets, then this screen can sometimes be used to enable the plug-in.

12 External Media Prefs

The "External Media Prefs" screen allows you to pick the file types through their extensions, that you want Pocket Tunes to open and play when you select them within File Explorer.

Uncheck the box next to file extensions that you don't want Pocket Tunes to open from File Explorer.

13 Graphic Equalizer

Pocket Tunes has a hi-fi graphic equalizer that you can use to fine-tune how your music sounds.  To access the equalizer controls, select "Graphic Equalizer..." from the Pocket Tunes "Tools" menu.

There are three equalizer modes you can choose from: Disabled, Equalizer, and Bass Boost.

The bass boost setting enhances the bass of the music you are listening to.

The graphic equalizer allows you to enhance or diminish certain frequencies during playback.

There are 8 equalizer presets that you can customize as you wish.  Using the 5-way navigator select or tap the drop down box to select the preset you wish to work on.  By pressing the right soft key or tapping "Menu", select the "Rename" menu item to set a name for your preset, and then change the equalizer controls to your liking.  Press the left soft key or tap "Done" to save your changes.  Your settings will take effect as soon as you tap "Done".

Select "Reset" from the menu on the "Equalizer" screen to reset the current preset settings to neutral.

Performance Note: Turning on the graphic equalizer can slow down your device somewhat.  (The bass boost setting will also slow down your device, but it will have much less of an impact than the equalizer.)  If you notice any skipping or stuttering, try turning off the equalizer to see if it fixes the problem.  Email support@pocket-tunes.com if you hear skipping or stuttering even with the equalizer turned off.  Additionally the Equalizer and Bass Boost will not work for copy-protected tracks from online music services.

14 Crossfading

Pocket Tunes allows you to seamlessly fade from one song to the next.  This feature is known as crossfading.  It is only available in the Deluxe version of Pocket Tunes.

To change the crossfade settings, select the "Crossfade Prefs..." item from the Pocket Tunes "Prefs" menu.

To enable crossfading, select the "Enable crossfade" checkbox.

Set the desired crossfade duration by selecting the duration from the drop down box.  This duration is the number of seconds of overlap during which Pocket Tunes will fade from one song to the next.  A duration of "gapless" means that Pocket Tunes will attempt to seamlessly blend two song files together without any gaps.  This is most useful for audio files recorded from live albums or DJ mix CDs.

15 Bookmarks

Pocket Tunes allows you to create bookmarks so that you can remember where you are in your audio file.  This is particularly useful for audiobooks, podcasts, or recorded radio broadcasts (using Replay Radio), for example.  Bookmarks are only available in the Deluxe version of Pocket Tunes.

15-1 Adding a Bookmark

To create a bookmark, select "Add Bookmark" from the "Actions" menu.

When the bookmark name dialog appears, enter the name of the bookmark then press the left soft key or tap OK.  (By default, the title of the song is used.)

If you want Pocket Tunes to always use the title of the song, then uncheck the "Always ask for name" option.  (You can re-enable this using the "Bookmark Prefs" screen if you change your mind.)

15-2 Go to a Bookmark

To go to a bookmark (or manage your list of bookmarks), select the "Bookmarks..." menu item on the "Tools" menu.

Select the bookmark you wish to go to, then press the left soft key or tap "Go".

To rename or delete a bookmark, select the bookmark followed by selecting either the "Rename" or "Delete" item from the "Menu".

15-3 Bookmark Preferences

To change your bookmark preferences, select the "Bookmark Prefs..." item on the "Prefs" menu.

Check the "Always ask for bookmark name" option so that Pocket Tunes will always prompt you to give a name for a new bookmark.  If you uncheck this option, Pocket Tunes will automatically use the name of the song as the bookmark name.

Enable auto-bookmarking by selecting the "Enable Auto-Bookmarking" checkbox.  See the next section for details on auto-bookmarking.

15-4 Auto-Bookmark Feature

Pocket Tunes has an auto-bookmarking feature to automatically create bookmarks for you.  When this feature is enabled (see the previous section for details on how to enable it), Pocket Tunes will automatically create a new bookmark whenever you pause playback and open a new audio file.

For example, if you are listening to an audiobook, and you wish to play a music file, but you want to remember where you left off, follow these steps:

  2. Select the bookmark for the audio book that you wish to listen to.

15-5 Go To Feature

The "Go To" screen lets you jump to any location within an audio file.  This is particularly useful when listening to lengthy audiobooks or podcasts, especially if your device does not have a touch screen.

To open the "Go To" screen select the "Go To..." item from the "Actions" menu.  Simply enter the time position in your audio file that you wish to go to and press the left soft key or tap "OK".  For convenience, the current position and total length of the current track is displayed at the top of the "Go To" screen.

16 Internet Radio

If you have an Internet-capable handheld device or phone, Pocket Tunes can play MP3, AAC, and aacPlus formatted streaming Internet radio!  You can listen to hundreds of stations streamed live over the Internet from web sites such as ShoutCast or Live365, or you can create your own station to broadcast your favorite tunes (additional software required - see www.shoutcast.com or www.live365.com for details).

Important Note: You may be charged for wireless data usage by your Internet provider.  Please check your data plan before tuning into an Internet radio station.  NormSoft is not responsible for any charges incurred due to using this software.

Connection Speed: Note that some Internet radio stations require a high bandwidth connection.  Look for the "kbps" setting for the station.  If it is 64 kbps or higher, then you may have trouble playing this station using a cell phone or modem.

16-1 The Internet Radio Catalog

Pocket Tunes includes an Internet radio catalog to help make finding and listening to Internet radio stations easier than ever.  To open the Internet radio catalog, select "Internet Radio..." from the "Tools" menu.

The first time you open the Internet radio catalog, your device will download a set of Internet radio stations from the Pocket Tunes web site.  This pre-populated catalog can be periodically updated from the Pocket Tunes web site by choosing "Get Updates" from the "Update" menu on the "Internet Radio" screen, or by enabling automatic update checks on the "Preferences" screen.

Stations in the Internet radio catalog are divided into groups.  The drop down box at the top of the screen is used to choose which group is displayed.  The list beneath the drop down box will show all the stations within the selected group.  Selecting a station in the list and choosing "Play" will begin streaming the selected station.  (For your convenience, all stations within the group will be loaded into the playlist, so that you can easily change channels between stations within the same group without returning to the "Internet Radio" screen.)

You can use the "Move Station Up/Down", "Add Station...", "Edit Station...", "Move Station to Group...", "Copy Station to Group...", "Delete Station...", and "Edit Groups..." menu items in the "Internet Radio" screen menu to personalize the contents of the Internet radio catalog.

Tip: You can also tune into an Internet radio station from the "Choose Songs" screen.  On the "Choose Songs" screen navigate "up" the music browsing hierarchy by repeatedly selecting the "<-" icon or by pressing the left navigation key until you reach the top-level (this level contains the items "All Content," "Artist," "Album," "Genre," "Playlists," and "Internet Radio").  Select the "Internet Radio" item and the music browse display will change to show the "Internet Radio" catalog groups.  Select a group and the display will change to show the stations within that group.  Select one or more stations and press the left soft key or tap "Play Sel." to begin playing the first selected station.

16-2 Finding Other Internet Radio Stations

The easiest way to find and listen to Internet radio stations not included in the catalog downloaded from the Pocket Tunes web site is to visit www.shoutcast.com or www.treobits.com on your device's web browser.  Look for a station that you want to listen to, and select the "Tune In" button.  If prompted, you should choose to open the file after it is downloaded, likewise you should also answer "Yes" if asked to accept or download the file.  Pocket Tunes will then load the station and start playing it within a few seconds.  In the example pictured below, you would leave the "Open file after download" checked and select the "Yes" button.

After using your web browser to find and play a new Internet radio station, the new station will appear in the "Unfiled" group within the Internet radio catalog.  You can use the "Move Station to Group..." or "Copy Station to Group..." items in the menu on the "Internet Radio" screen to include the station in another group or groups.

Pocket Tunes also supports playing Internet radio stations from premium services (such as www.di.fm) that require a username and password.  To access these stations, use the "Add Station..." item in the menu on the "Internet Radio" screen, to add an Internet audio URL.  The URL for the station should look something like this: http://username:password@1.1.1.1:8096

16-3 Listening to Radio Stations from Live365

NormSoft has made several Live365 stations available from its web site.  Visit http://www.pocket-tunes.com/mobile/ on your handheld and click on the Live365 link to list the stations available.  You can also tune into any Live365 station by following the instructions below.

  1. Visit www.live365.com on your PC.
  2. Find a stream that you would like to listen to and follow the prompts to begin listening on your PC.
  3. When the music begins playing, save the current playlist as an M3U file.  (The mechanism for doing this depends on your music player.  Usually you can select "Save As" or "Save Playlist" and save an M3U file.)
  4. Copy the M3U file to your device using ActiveSync or a card reader.  If you use a card reader, copy it to the root directory on your expansion card.
  5. Go to the playlists screen in Pocket Tunes and choose the new playlist.
17 Sending/Receiving Audio Files

You can play music from web sites and receive music by email.

Receiving Music

When you receive a supported music file, the program you are receiving it with (e.g. IE) may prompt you regarding whether you wish to save the file and/or open it. Choosing to open the file after it is downloaded will cause Pocket Tunes to immediately begin playing it after is is downloaded, likewise choosing to save the file to memory or a storage card will allow you to open it later, from the "Choose Songs" screen within Pocket Tunes.

M3U Playlists

This feature is available in the Deluxe version only.  Pocket Tunes can use M3U playlists to play music on the Internet.  The entries in an M3U file can refer to an Internet audio URL or a non-streaming MP3, WMA, or AAC file.  You can select an M3U file in File Explorer, and Pocket Tunes will play the Internet music listed in the file.

18 Album Art

Pocket Tunes supports the display of JPEG-encoded album art.  The album art for a song can be included within the song file (in a "tag"), or it may be a separate file located in the same folder as the music file.

If you are using a skin that supports album art (as does the default skin included with Pocket Tunes), it will be displayed whenever a song with album art is playing.  If not, you may view the song's album art by opening the "Song Details" screen (choose "Show Song Info..." from the "Tools" menu) or you may view the art in full-screen mode by choosing "Show Album Art" from the "Actions" menu.

When viewing album art in full-screen mode, the displayed album art will change as new songs with album art are played.  If a song without album art starts playing the text "Album Art Not Available" will be displayed where the full-screen album art normally appears.
